If you are planning to watch a Pirates of the Caribbean movie on the next weekend, prepare to be entertained, amused, and enlightened on this swashbuckling journey through the high seas of Hollywood. How many Pirates of the Caribbean movies are there, by the way?

There you go, here is the full list, from us, the editors of Poetic Life-style, to you, the movie enthusiastic:

The Curse of the Black Pearl
The saga started with the movie “Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl.” This movie in many ways shaped minds of the viewes and of course, marked the maiden voyage of Captain Jack Sparrow, played stylishly and brilliantly by one and only Johnny Depp. With his eccentric mannerisms, Captain Jack quickly became a pop culture icon, swaying and swaggering his way into our hearts. Here is a fun fact: Did you know that Johnny Depp based his character on a combination of Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards and cartoon skunk Pepé Le Pew. Aye, you can smell the rock ‘n’ roll in the air!

Dead Man’s Chest
The second installment, that came with a title “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest,” took the franchise to a great height. A height very few anticipated. This movie introduced Davy Jones and his eerie crew of fishy fiends. The movie had everyone watching it hooked. It later went on to become one of the highest-grossing films of all time. Joke time! Why did Davy Jones start a seafood restaurant? Because he wanted to serve a dish called “Squid Rings”!

At World’s End
The stakes were raised even higher when “Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End” came to theaters. Our beloved characters faced their most treacherous challenges in this installment. The film tied up all loose ends and in a way brought an epic conclusion to the original trilogy. Some Pirates of the Caribbean fans however thought that it could have been better. Another fun fact: This movie boasts the most massive set ever built, representing Singapore’s top harbor. It was so vast that they say you could’ve spotted it from the crow’s nest of the Black Pearl itself!

On Stranger Tides
Captain Jack returned for more mischief and mayhem in “Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides.” This time, he encountered the seductive and dangerous mermaids, making us all reconsider our dreams of a beach vacation. Some of us, I know, booked a trip after watching the movie. Joke ahoy! Why don’t mermaids like living in saltwater aquariums? Too many “shore” leave restrictions!

Dead Men Tell No Tales
The latest full-fledged adventure, “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales,” brought back Captain Jack for another thrilling escapade. This time, he faced the terrifying Captain Salazar and his ghostly crew. Did you know? Javier Bardem, who portrayed Captain Salazar, wore uncomfortable silicone prosthetics to achieve that creepy ghostly look. Talk about suffering for art!

The Untold Stories – Spin-offs
Beyond the main saga, there have been talks of spin-offs exploring various characters’ untold stories. We might see more of Captain Jack, or perhaps delve into the mysterious past of other iconic figures from the franchise. Rumors are swirling that a spin-off centered around the iconic duo of Captain Barbossa and his loyal monkey, Jack, could be in the works. Prepare to “ape-solutely” love it!

There you have it, mateys! Six epic swashbuckling tales of adventure and piracy on the big screen. As we eagerly await more thrilling escapades from the Pirates of the Caribbean universe, let’s raise a tankard of grog and toast to Captain Jack Sparrow and his unforgettable crew of misfits and rogues.
